Set up & fund your wallet
Six steps, in order. Go slowly. Nothing here is a race.
Step 1: Install a wallet
Choose one from the wallet options. Download it only from the official app store or the wallet's own website, then create a new wallet.
Step 2: Write down your recovery phrase on paper
Your wallet shows 12 or 24 words once. Anyone who has them controls everything in the wallet, and nobody can reverse it. Write them on paper and keep it somewhere private.
Write it on paper. Check every word. Store it somewhere private.
Screenshot it, type it into a website, or share it with anyone.

Step 3: Make sure you're on the Flare network
Flare-focused wallets set this up for you. In MetaMask or Rabby, add Flare once:
- Network name
- Flare Mainnet
- Chain ID
- 14
- Currency
- FLR
- RPC URL
- https://flare-api.flare.network/ext/C/rpc
- Explorer
- https://flare-explorer.flare.network
Step 4: Practice with free test tokens (optional)
Coston2 is Flare's test network. Its token, C2FLR, is free and has no value, so you can practice sending and delegating safely.
- Network name
- Flare Testnet Coston2
- Chain ID
- 114
- Currency
- C2FLR
- RPC URL
- https://coston2-api.flare.network/ext/C/rpc
- Explorer
- https://coston2-explorer.flare.network
Step 5: Buy FLR, then send a small test first
Buy FLR on an exchange with your bank card or account. These exchanges list FLR. What's available depends on your country. Tap one to open its official site, and bookmark it so you don't land on a fake.

Type the exchange address yourself or use these links. Fake exchange sites and ads that copy real ones are common.
- Copy your wallet address (it starts with 0x).
- On the exchange, withdraw a small amount of FLR and choose the Flare network.
- Wait until it shows up in your wallet. Then send the rest.

Step 6: Keep a little FLR for fees
Every action on Flare costs a tiny amount of FLR, often called gas. Keep some in your wallet so you can always move your funds.
